The gang starts out by bringing up the Manti Te'o fake-dead-girlfriend story

10:00 Show Biz Beat

  • Britney Spears is being chased by many casinos in Vegas for a 2 year residency deal. Apparently Caesars' 200 million dollar bid is just the beginning of a bidding war.
  • Dominic Cooper has been cast in a miniseries highlighting the life of James Bond creator, Ian Flemming.
  • Is Kim Kardashian's pregnancy a publicity stunt?

Vitamin String Quartet plays Muse

18:30 Classical Muse-ic

Listeners call in to guess the title of Muse songs, as performed by a string quartet.

24:00 The Wheel o' Bad Animal Voices

Based on the New Zealand news report about dogs driving cars, the gang calls to talk to one of the dog trainers, but oddly enough they wind up talking to one of the dogs!

30:00 Bas Rutten calls in

MMA star Bas Rutten calls in to talk about his neck surgery, and promotes the Fit Expo in Los Angeles.

 36:30 Phone-in with Petros Papadakis

Petros calls in to talk about the Manti Te'o fake-dead-girlfriend controversy.  He gives a good overview of what happened, as known so far. What a bazaar story.

45:00 Arnold Schwarzenegger on the phone

The real Arnold calls in to promote his new movie, The Last Stand, which is his first leading role in many years. The movie actually has an appealing cast-- Johnny Knoxville and Forest Whitakre, but it is not surprising to see the Rotten Tomatoes review.  They discuss the former Governor's switch-over to politics and back to acting.  Unfortunately, Arnold still sounds like a politician as he is talking about this movie and I tuned most of it out, but not enough to miss the tired "I'll be back" catchphrase at the end.

Bonkers

54:00 Jim Jefferies in studio

Jim brings his adorable accent to the studio to talk about being on the Conan O'Brien show.  The gang also talks about Marian Cotillard's weird eyes.  I have to say-- the right makeup makes all the difference for her.

Jim also promotes his new series called Legit. Jim is a fairly irreverent and vulgar comedian so I hope the series will tune into that even though the FX channel is on the modest side of the spectrum.

1:14:00 Dr. Drew calls in

The gang wanted to talk about the Lance Armstrong confession, the drugs he was involved in, and the way that Lance handled himself when he was denying doping. Dr. Drew expresses concern for the witch-hunt mentality, and reminds us that people love resurrection stories. I think that, after the dust settles, Armstrong will be even more popular after this controversy.

1:20:00 Things you think, but do not say out loud

Thought Catalog has an article, 7 Things Everyone Thinks But No One Says.  Unfortunately, Bean only talks about 5 of these, and leaves out the funniest one-- "I want to punch that baby."

1:27:00 Closing Show Biz Beat

  • Ralph has high hopes to star in an upcoming biopic about the legendary James Brown, and practices some of his Brown impressions.
  • Al Pacino will be starring in Happy Valley, portraying dirt-bag Joe Paterno.
  • Cirque Du Soleil is firing 400 people in their organization as they restructure their productions. The company is obviously failing, because the founder, Guy Laliberté, could ony afford 11 days in space.  How embarrassing.

 Kroll, Carolla, and Grohl

Bean wants to know, what is the appropriate punishment for someone calling in a fake bomb threat to an airline, to get back at the guy who wronged his girlfriend. Kenneth Smith, who got angry when his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend put up a racy photo online, called in a bomb threat to the airport on the ex-boyfriend.

Mugs went to the world premier of The Last Stand to get some hard hitting interviews from big stars. Then, he accidentally reformatted his digital memory card and lost all the footage.

20:30 Omaroke

Omar "sings" Muse songs for listeners. If callers can identify the song he is singing, they will go into a drawing for Muse Tickets.

27:00 Michael Schnyder from TVguide.com

Michael calls in to talk about the new TV sit-com project that has been offered to Jessica Simpson. Everyone agrees this is a bad idea. Will this ever make the air?

34:00 Nick Kroll Interview

Nick is promoting his new show, The Kroll Show. I caught the first episode and it was pretty funny. Nick is definitely a funny dude. You can get the first episode for free on Amazon here:

The Kroll Show, Episode 1, San Diego Diet.

46:40 Corey Taylor and Dave Grohl

Sound City Soundtrack
The guys come in to talk about the Sound City movie. This sounds like a remarkable project and a dream come true for Dave. Several musicians and bands that recorded at Sound City were tracked down and interviewed for this movie, and they are putting on an all star concert. Dave purchased the board from the studio because of the impact he feels that it had on his career and the music industry as a whole. If you like to hear about music history, give this interview a listen, and check out the film.

1:13:00 Adam Carolla on the phone

Adam calls in to talk about lighting his farts on fire on long-distance road trips, and for This Week in Rage!

Adam has so much rage for this topic, he only has time to complain about one thing this week:
The Lance Armstrong controversy, but, during his rant, he sneaks in some complaints about paying taxes.

Dita Von Teese

1:22:00 Closing Show Biz

  • Chip Kelley is the new coach of the Eagles, and Ralph is happy about that.
  • Conrad Bain has passed away. We learned that Conrad had a brother named Boner Bain. Whatchoo talkin 'bout, Ralph?
  • Russell Crow might be dating famous burlesque performer, Dita Von Teese.  Ralph reminds us that she used to date Marilyn Manson, and they discuss possible sterilization procedures.
  • One Direction is filming a 3D concert movie. This is going to be directed by Morgan Spurlock. What a weird match-up.

It is cold in California and people are panicking. If you haven't seen a weather-cast in Southern California during a cold snap or rainy day, you are missing out. If it drops below 60 degrees, it is a top news story. Kids had to wear gloves, people, GLOVES!

6:30 Show Biz Beat with Ralph Garman

  • Britney Spears has a good reason for quitting the X-factor. We are learning that she asked for a 3 million dollar raise, and they said no thank you. However, Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas is offering a sweet 2 year deal over there.
  • The Golden Globe parties were the talk of the town, including Damien Lewis doing the Gangnam style dance, and Heidi Klum and Nathan Fillion dancing until Heidi pulled his pants down. Jennifer Lawrence and Brad Cooper were there together and people are speculating that they are dating.

15:00 Toilet Theme Park

This is a thing. This is real. This is not a joke.

In South Korea, they have a theme park and museum dedicated to our favorite modern plumbing implement. The theme park itself is shaped like a toilet, and there are statues of squatting men outside.

The museum is home to the Golden Poop Art Festival. I am serious.

24:30 Dave the King of Mexico talks more about Tonka the Wombat

As we discussed previously, Dave went to Austraila, and visited the Billabong Sanctuary in order to hug a wombat. Dave was pretty confident that his visit helped the reportedly depressed creature. The gang was able to reach Tonka by phone, but as you can imagine, they heard some disturbing news.

30:30 Jay Mohr in Studio

The verbally exhausting Jay Mohr joins the gang and no one gets a word in edgewise. Jay is going to be hosting a sports radio show on Fox Sports Radio. Jay covers a myriad of topics, runs through his catalog of impressions, and we all die a little.

44:00 AFRO line highlights

Kevin highlights a few AFRO-line calls from fans and listeners, including: taunting the "moist" girl, making fun of Huel Howser, hating Omar, hiding things inside vaginas, where are the Kevin live-read outtakes?, hating on Beer Mug, Bean's Monopoly anxiety, weather panic, and a song by Wing that ends hilariously abruptly.

Lorenzo Lamas sporting his European Casual Pouch

49:30 Lorenzo Lamas in Studio

Lorenzo comes in to talk about the Joe Schmo Show, the development and casting of the show, the stress of not blowing the whole secret, and the European Casual Pouch. If you haven't enjoyed Lorenzo's performance as "Lorenzo" on the show, you are missing out.

1:05:30 Honey Boo Boo's Thanksgiving Special

Another timely holiday special for the Honey Boo Boo train wreck. You are going to have to listen to this segment yourself because I can't understand anything these people said. Its a good thing that Bean translates some of what we are hearing. Some of the highlights include 50 opened cans of food, a turkey filled with butter, a chicken named Nugget, and a food fight.

1:15:30 Jeff Ross in Studio

Jeff comes in, and right on cue everyone makes fun of his hair. Really this is low-hanging fruit.  Jeff is promoting his show, The Burn, on Comedy Central, where he does some stand-up with other comedians on the roast circuit, and roasts people in the audience. If you enjoy the Comedy Central Roasts, you will probably like this show.  Jeff also talks about his recent confrontation with the Westboro Baptist Church.

Episode January 14, 2013

The Kevin & Bean Podcast, Monday, January 14, 2013

What is going on with Jodi Foster? The star acted a little odd at the Golden Globe's last night.

7:30 Show Biz Beat

  • Box office over the weekend showed Zero Dark Thirty in the number one spot. Also in the top 5 were A Haunted House (for some reason), Gangster Squad, Djengo Unchained, and Les Miserables.
  • Ralph recaps the Golden Globe winners; see the complete list of Golden Globe 2013 winners here.
  • Proof that a sense of humor is sexy? Olivia Wilde is going to marry Jason Sudeikis.
  • Brittney Spears has broken up with her fiancee du jour. I didn't even bother keeping track of this story.
  • Mark your calendars, Tyler Perry has announced the movie of A Medea Christmas will be coming this year.  Hallelujer! What Ralph does NOT tell you, is that A Medea Chistmas is already a play, and the DVD of the play available on Netflix. I know this will make you very happy. You're welcome.

14:00 Taydolf Switler

Taylor broke up with her boyfriend from One Direction and attended the Golden Globes by herself.   Apparently Taylor made a "face" when Adele won in the category they were both nominated.  "Taylor" calls in, talks to the gang about her breakups, and sings some songs.

18:30 Call-in from Harvey Levin of TMZ

Harvey calls in and they give a play-by-play of the manic train-wreck that was Jodi Foster's Golden Globe speech and talk about the possible lasting implications on her career.  After the phone call is over, the gang continues to talk about the Golden Globes broadcast's highs and lows. My favorite is this clip of Will Ferrell and Kristin Wiig.

38:00 Brazillian Prostitutes Prepare for the 2014 World Cup

Hookers are getting ready by learning English so they can capitalize on the World Cup tourism.  The gang calls an "English professor to talk about the unique phrases the ladies are learning for this task.  The interview opens with a spectacular Moment with Kevin, which is pretty ironic considering the content of the phone call to follow.

44:30 Call-in Topic: Mascot Job Nightmares

Bean discusses a couple of mascots he sees working on street corners or inside restaurants and Ralph shares a pretty funny personal experience with a He-Man costume.  Listeners also call in to tell some pretty cringe-worthy stories.

58:00 Andrew Siciliano calls in to talk about the NFL

And I need to clean my toilets for the next 7 minutes and 30 seconds.

1:05:30 Jimmy Kimmel calls in

Jimmy and the gang talk about Jimmy's new 11:30pm time slot for his very successful show.

1:11:30 Thanks for that Info, Bean

Ralph and the gang highlight some of Bean's off-mic attempts to have conversations with his coworkers.

1:19:00 Closing Show Biz Beat

  • The gang makes fun of Lena Dunham's choice of footwear at the Golden Globes. Ralph really dislikes this woman because she thinks very highly of herself and talk a little more about the event.
  • The Beatles' first hit, Love Me Do, has crossed over into public domain in Europe.
  • Vivid Entertainment is suing Los Angeles County for the new law that requires adult actors to use condoms, saying that it infringes on their freedom of expression.

Episode January 11, 2013

The Kevin & Bean Podcast, Friday, January 11, 2013

The show opens with some more clips and discussion of the genius of Huel Howser.  Huel was impressed with a picture of Bert Lancaster in the Bagdad Cafe.

After being brought to a Kentucky jail, Jessica Webster was caught hiding 4 hypodermic needles full of heroin in her vagina.  The gang discusses using this idea for a call-in topic in the future. I can't wait.

Also, Kevin almost killed Lisa May in the parking lot yesterday.

7:30 Show Biz Beat

  • Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez have broken up. Was Justin interested in another woman, a supermodel named Barbara. Who knew there were 80 year old supermodels? I didn't.
  • Also in Bieber news, his former bodyguard is claiming that Bieber beat him up. What? Bieber couldn't beat up a supermodel named Barbara much less a body guard. Ralph has it right when he compares Bieber to Mr. Burns.
  • Lingerie Football league is getting a makeover and they will no longer play in lingerie, and will change the name to the Legend's Football League. Skip this and watch some Roller Derby instead.
  • Documentary about Green DAy will be premiering at the X-Games, and will be called Quatro.
  • Trent Rezner has announced that Nine Inch Nails will not be getting back together, but he is working on his other project, How to Destroy Angels.

Amanda Peet, Studio 60, 41

14:30 Beer Mug is Fat

At the end of 2011, Mugs shocked everyone by losing 30 pounds in 3 months. He actually stayed about the same for the first two and a half months and then crash dieted at the last minute to drop weight. Then gained it all back plus some. Now he is really fat. Even though he was planning on starting anew on January 1, he has already failed miserably, and has found all the excuses to continue putting it off.

22:00 Movie Beat

We are finally getting some good movies back in theaters. Features available this weekend include:
Struck By Lightning

30:00 Justin Beiber Smokes pot and doesn't care who knows it.

The gang checks in with "Justin" to talk about some of the recent scandalous news items. There is vomiting involved.

36:00 Matt Money Smith in studio

Matt comes in to talk about sports stuff, and I fast forward.

52:00 The Monopoly Crisis

Bean is freaking out because Parker Brothers is going to retire one of the Monopoly pieces.  The gang spends too much time trying to convince Bean that it does not matter, and even if it did, it would not affect him at all, since he already has a complete set.

Shameless

58:00 In Studio interview with Steve Howie

Steve comes in to talk about the season premier of his show, Shameless. They discuss the acting chops of William H Macy, Steve's bar-tending skills, and full frontal nudity.

1:11:00 Loquecia calls in to talk about Buckwild

Loquecia is still disgusted with the people on this show.  This week's episode highlights teen fatherhood, a hillbilly slip and slide, some Yosemite Sam-like behavior, several parties, and a plethora of extremely dangerous behavior, including blatant violation of helmet laws which might explain the brain damage displayed on the show.

1:19:30 Cousin Sal on the phone

Sal calls in to talk about Jimmy Kimmel going up against Letterman in the 11:30 time slot. They also talked about sports for a long time and you can read about those things at Grantland.com

Episode January 10, 2013

The Kevin & Bean Podcast, Thursday, January 10, 2013

It is cold in California, it is going to rain and everyone is in a panic. The highest tides in measured history on the west coast are happening.

Bean shares a couple of stories related to Starbucks.

First, a Seattle woman who makes crazy year-long resolutions has decided that she is going to eat and drink at Starbucks all year long. This woman's name is Beautiful Existence, if that helps you understand a little better.

Second, also in Seattle, a man was hit by a bus, hard enough to shatter the bus window. He then stands up, bleeding profusely, and walks into the Starbucks and tries to order. Since he has suffered a concussion, he makes this order with hevay bertation, and employees call 911.

Bean highlights some of the perks of the job and invites students to apply for an internship.

25:30: Dave the King of Mexico taunts the gang because the Clippers are actually doing well.

Kevin is losing money to Dave since the Clippers are outplaying the Lakers this season.  We get to hear a medley of AFRO line calls from Dave, gloating. Enjoy Dave's 2013 Clipper Nation song at 29:30 in the podcast.

32:30 Call in topic-- You had a Gun Pointed at You

Gun Control is in the News. In light of the popular hot-topic, the gang invites anyone who has had a gun pointed at them to call in and tell the story. Is it weird that several of the cast had stories to share?

46:00 In Studio interview with Eddie Izzard

Eddie comes in to talk about his Works In Progress show at the Largo and other locations. Eddie tours around the world in many languages. He is a pretty cool dude and gives an interesting and entertaining interview.

1:02:00 Phone interview with Dr. Drew

Dr. Drew discusses the current Norovirus epidemic, and dispels some common myths and misconceptions concerning the flu and flu vaccines. He also suggests that Whooping Cough is going around. The takeaway from this interview is to get vaccinated and wash your hands a lot. Dr. Drew also confirms that he has come back to podcasting with Adam Carolla, taking calls nationwide. I will definitely be checking that out.

1:17:00 Closing Show Biz Beat

In addition to reviewing stories from earlier in the show:

  • Angelina Jolie's wardrobe assistant was diagnosed with breast cancer, and Angelina will be covering all of her living expenses, medical expenses, and has guaranteed her job when she is ready to return.

Episode, January 9, 2013

The Kevin & Bean Podcast, Wednesday, January 9, 2013

The show opens with some drops from the Crazy Afro Lady, and the gang discusses the fact that she has not called in a while. They continue to wonder if she is really crazy or is doing a bit, but either way, they want to meet her. Enjoy this remix of the crazy lady, as shared by Kevin.

Bean talks about Florida, and the fact that a high percentage of crazy news stories come from Florida. The group wonders why that might be, and considers the chicken-or-the-egg possibilities.

Florida woman Brenda Schumann went on an armed rampage after finding her husband in bed with another woman, and then left a present in the kitchen.

10:00 Show biz beat with Bean

  • Ralph is not able to join the team for the morning show biz beat because he got super drunk at his Joe Schmo Show party the previous night.

  • Kim Kardashian is still trying to get a divorce from Kris Humphries, who is not cooperating. Kim tells TMZ that although she doesn't feel the need to be married to Kanya before the baby is born, she would rather not be married to someone else. Did you realize they have been separated for over a year and a half at this point?

Birthdays:
Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, 31
AJ McLean, Back Street Boys, 35
Dave Matthews, 46
Jimmy Page, 69
JK Simmons, (who, after seeing him in Oz, I will never be able to truly accept in any other role, and will always visualize doing unspeakable things) 58
Nina Dobrev, 24
Joey Lauren Adams, 45

17:00 Gillionaire has a new song

The cast talks about Gillionaire, (ImDaBes, Rifle Burs,)  who has come out with a new song, Dem Pants, which is an homage to women who wear tight pants. I really enjoy this new song, and the way he weaves multiple layers of vocals to create a complete sound. It reminds me of this Harry Potter Mysterious Ticking Noise Puppet video. As usual, you will have this song stuck in your head for 8 days. SKIRT! If you want to see a pretty funny video that features the inside of a Motel 6, lip flipping while singing, and a pregnant woman shaking her booty, this is for you.

Check out his ImDaBes video, which showcases some mad video editing skills, and my personal fave, Rifle Burs, in which you will see several things in an unorganized fashion, including Gil's mom's messy garage, a dude sleeping under the table, his friends dancing around with guns, an unexpected plank on a stool, a guy scratching his back with a back scrubber, Gil rolling cookie dough with a rolling pin, more than one Christmas wreath, and masterful use of the word "re-dead." Swag indeed. Swag. Indeed.

22:30  Omar is obsessed with pooping.

Omar makes poop jokes about everything. Bean highlights some of Omar's inappropriate tweets.

28:00 Tribute to Huel Howser

Ralph finally joins the gang, and he has prepared a spectacular highlight of the late Huel Howser and his show, California's Gold. Huel had a knack for talking about uninteresting facts but making them sound really exciting. The clips Ralph shares include the the place where the Rainbird Sprinkler was invented, the Wizard of Bras, a woman who whistles, a lake that has a lot of flies, the Baghdad Cafe, and Huel losing his sh*t when he sees a dog eat an avocado. Check out Huel's official Youtube Channel.

34:30 Chris Harrison, host of the Bachelor

Chris Harrison, from the Bachelor calls in to talk about the Travel and Adventure Show and doing Bachelor panel interviews. They discuss the new season of the Bachelor, and the group of women involved this time around, including 50 Shades of Drunk girl, and Overzealous Wedding Dress girl.

43:30 How Quick Did You Get Someone Into Bed?

The gang continues a discussion about New Year's resolutions, during which a caller stated her resolution was to stop being such a slut. Then listeners are invited to call in and talk about how quickly they slept with someone after meeting them. Don't be surprised when most of the stories involve alcohol.

57:00 Kevin and Bean Scientific Survey.

At the national championship college football game, Alabama quarterback A J McCarron's girlfriend received some attention from the announcer, Brent Musberger. The girlfriend, Katherine Webb, is Miss Alabama 2012, and Musberger made quite a fuss about how attractive she was. (Personally, all I see are hair extensions, veneers, and ribs.) Later, ESPN issued an apology for his remarks.

Were Musberger's comments inappropriate?

The gang takes calls to complete their Scientific Survey, the best of five calls decides this issue once and for all:

01:05:30  In Studio Interview with Jim McKairnes

The group talks to Ralph's childhood friend from Philadelphia, Jim McKairnes, author of the book 103 Ways to Get Into TV (By 102 Who Did Plus Me). The book gives advice for people who want to move to Hollywood and make a career in the entertainment business.

Something that was more interesting to me than the book was Jim's ridiculous photographic memory, which allows him to remember what happened on random dates in history. Pretty impressive.

01:21:30 Phone interview with Adam Carolla

This Week In Rage:
  • New Year's Resolutions: Adam has decided that his new year's resolution is for everyone ELSE to get their crap together.
  • The Guitar-to-sex ratio: Guitars = sex. Huge mariachi guitars = no sex. Tiny guitars are played by big Samoan dudes, and huge mariachi guitars are played by tiny Mexicans. This is the stuff that Adam thinks about.
  • Men's Health Magazine crowning Katy Perry the hottest woman of 2013: Adam says that Katy Perry always looks like she is thinking about something stupid and therefore she cannot be the hottest woman in America.

1:27:30 Charlie Sheen VS Antonio Villaraigosa

LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is being scrutinized after being seen in a party photo with Charlie Sheen. Although the mayor insists he only had a 3 minute interaction with Sheen, Charlie is emphatically denying this, and stating that Villaraigosa was partying hard with the best of them.  Then we enjoy a "phone call" from the partying duo.

1:32:30 Closing Show Biz Beat

  • The gang teases Ralph for his excessive hangover vomiting, following his crazy Joe Schmo party.
  • Paley Center for Media will be hosting PaleyFest, featuring clips and Q&A sessions for popular shows like Walking Dead, Community, Parenthood, The New Girl, American Horror Story: Asylum, and other shows like Two Broke Girls.
  • Bones has been picked up for another season.
  • Kim and Kanye have turned down 3 million dollars for the first baby photos. We are all sure they are just holding out for a bigger number. Angelina Jolie got 14 million for her baby photos, but gave it all to charity.
  • Sarah Jessica Parker likes to dress in matching outfits with her twin daughters
  • Tony Lipp, Carmine from the Sopranos, passed away at the age of 82.   Tony has been cast as a gangster in many projects.

Episode January 8, 2013

The Kevin & Bean Podcast, Tuesday, January 8, 2013

The show opens with the cast complaining about the technical difficulties they have been experiencing since they returned from vacation. Lisa has to try several different mics.

Bean reviews a story about a Santa Cruz tree trimmer who has had his second freak accident in 6 months!

9:00 Show Biz Beat

16:30 Honey Boo Boo's Halloween Special

Usually they make someone else review bad TV shows, but I think Bean secretly loves Honey Boo Boo. This is a very timely Halloween themed show. The show includes June dying her hair blonde, which makes her boyfriend really excited, the girls carving pumpkins, pants full of pumpkin guts, and of course everyone's favorite scary story, Fart Ghost. (You smell it before you see it.)

26:00 Al Gore sells his TV station

Al Gore gets paid 125 million when Al Jazeera buys his television station. "Al Gore" calls into the show to talk about the new programming available on the channel, which all sound like American shows, but with an Al Jazeera twist. Al tries to say Salam Aleikum several times, without success.

31:00 Sam the Armenian Comedian

Sam has booked a gig at Club Astral, which is an upscale club in Burbank about to have its grand opening. Sam calls in to thank the gang for his new found success, and tells them about the new night club and his hosting gig. Don't miss Sam's appearance where he will feature his songs about New York. The gang plans to send Beer Mug down to cover the event. Sam cannot understand why everyone else doesn't want to go. Then Sam says he is psychic. Sound disjointed? Pretty much. Then, one of sam's infamous "jokes" at 38:15. As usual, it goes nowhere and the punchline does not exist.

40:00 Captain Minutiae

In light of Jennifer Lopez' crazy contract rider, as discussed on yesterday's show, the gang teases Bean for his agreement that white extension cords are superior to other colors. Bean also hates black pens to the point that he will make a noise and throw it if he picks one up. The gang takes calls from listeners with other weird, OCD issues such as this.

50:30 Phone interview with Hines Ward

Hines Ward calls in to talk about football and retirement. In his post-football life, he has been doing a triathlon training, appearing in the Dark Knight Rises, Dancing with the Stars, as well as a cooking show, I have never heard of. That's as much as I had attention span for since this was sports-related.

58:30 Hockey is back
